About This Tool

The course is focused on developing cultural awareness and divided into six pages:

  1. Introduction
  2. Definitions of culture
  3. Cultural competence terminology
  4. Background terminology for cultural competency
  5. Cultural competence: a journey
  6. Self-awareness: becoming aware of your own worldview.

While the first five modules are focused on gaining theoretical knowledge in a specific field, the sixth module is further divided into six submodules which require reflection:

  1. Learning about your own culture
  2. Understanding your personal worldview
  3. Appreciating your own multiple identities
  4. Acknowledge assumptions and biases
  5. Accepting responsibilities and tolerating ambiguity
  6. Recognizing limits of your competence.
