CARAP/FREPA
Description
ECML (European Centre of Modern Languages, Graz, Austria) - CoE (Council of Europe). A framework of reference for pluralistic approaches to languages and cultures - Competences and resources. This publication opens ways for implementing pluralistic approaches in classrooms in order to develop the plurilingual and intercultural competences of learners of all subjects. The term pluralistic approaches to languages and cultures refers to didactic approaches which involve the use of more than one / several varieties of languages or cultures simultaneously during the teaching process. In FREPA, competences are represented as follows: they are linked to situations, to complex tasks, and are socially relevant; they consist of units with a degree of complexity; they call upon and make use of different internal resources (generally a mix of knowledge, attitudes, and skills) and external resources (dictionaries, mediators ...).FREPA descriptors consist of forward-looking internal resources, which essentially fall into two types of competences: competence in managing linguistic and cultural communication in a context of otherness; competence in the construction and broadening of a plural linguistic and cultural repertoire.
