Intercultural Communication and Conflict Resolution
Description
This course by UCI is focused on conflict resolution in intercultural communication and is divided into three parts: 1. Dimensions of intercultural interactions and conflict, 2. Analyze the dynamics of intercultural interactions, 3. Strategies for success in intercultural interactions. In the first part participants are learning about the importance of understanding cultural differences, define culture and distinguish between inter- and intra-cultural interactions. The second part gives frameworks on intercultural interactions and examines barriers present in intercultural communication. The last part equips the participant with strategies for successful intercultural encounters and thrives to give them a mindset focused on success and strategies. Topics to be explored in general are stereotypes, generalizations, communication styles, communication strategies, and communication orientations.
