Fast Friends (Page-Gould, Mendoza-Denton and Tropp, 2008)

Description

Fast Friends is an empirically tested exercise developed by Page-Gould, Mendoza-Denton and Tropp (2008). The goal of the exercise is to help participants develop positive relationships with someone from a different cultural background. Participants work in pairs, addressing a list of 36 different questions about themselves. The questions start with fairly superficial, neutral topics but address increasingly personal/private areas of the self. Participants address each question one by one, and as they give answers to the question, moving at a pace that they feel comfortable with, they develop an increasing sense of feeling close and connected to one another.
